This month is the second time I’m participating in NaNoWriMo. For those who don’t know, or don’t feel like clicking the nifty link I provided, the goal of those participating in NaNo is to write 50,000 words (or a small novel) in one month.

That’s about 1,667 words a day.

That’s a lot of writing.

I was doing pretty good the first couple of days, averaging about 2,000 words a day. Right now, I’m sitting at about 6,700 words when I need to be at about 8,335 or so to keep on pace for the 50,000. My goal for today is to get to 10,000 so I can be ahead.

For some strange reason, I don’t feel the pressure I did last year. The writing this year is a LOT easier. I have no idea why. I think part of it is I already did it, and I know I can do it. So I’m not completely pressed if I don’t hit the 50K mark. I’m still going to try, though.

I think next year, though, I’m going to do something different. The Lesley is doing the NaBloPoMo in lieu of the NaNoWriMo. I may do that. Not so damn time intensive.

  • Cool! Where’s the link to your nanowrimo site? You only gave the general one.

  • Here! Are you doing it, too? You can be my buddy!

2000 more words and I’m done for tonight! :yay:

  • I really would like to write a novel eventually, but for now I’m enjoying NaBloPoMo. You’re right — much less pressure than NaNoWriMo.

I’m also doing NaKniSweMo or National Knit a Sweater Month. If you want to do that next year, I’d be happy to show you how to knit before then. 😆

  • Your ‘here’ doesn’t link. Was that deliberate? Anyhow, that’s fine as I found your profile on the nanowrimo page. The excerpt is good. Best wishes for finishing.

I’m focussed on other things this month, but it sounds like a great project. Go Stewie! :yay: :yay:

  • i can’t tell you how many times I’ve resolved to write at least 1,000 words a day … and then Football comes on. I need to work on Discipline. Or the adult ADD. Or both.

  • Lesley, you do it once, it will be easier the next time. Kind of like riding a bike. Or sex. Or sex while riding a bike.

Snooze, it does now. I suck at the web. But thanks for the compliment! I assure you, that’s probably about the best thing in the book. 😆

Spike, I hear you. I literally have to force myself to write. But once I get started, I’m happy I did.
